Harold’s Parakeets

This 10’x30′ mural located in Chicago, IL’s Hyde Park neighborhood features a portrait of Harold Washington, Chicago’s first Black mayor. It also includes images of his apartment home, some local landmarks, and a number of the Monk’s Parakeets that he considered to be his good luck charms. It was commissioned in 2021 by the South East Chicago Commission.
